A smart first edition of the work in original publisher's brown cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine. In the original price-clipped dust wrapper.

Len Deighton is a British author known for his novels on espionage and military history. He was born in 1929 and carried out his national service in the RAF before studying art and then becoming an illustrator and a novelist.

This particular novel tells the story of protagonist Steve Champion, a businessman and former head of an anti-Nazi group during the Second World War. The many questions surrounding Champion's past lead to an investigation on the former-spy, lead by his oldest wartime ally.

In a striking dust wrapper designed by British author and graphic designer, Raymond Hawkey.

In the publisher's original cloth binding with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities. Price-clipped dust wrapper in excellent condition, with light sunning to the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages mostly bright and clean, with a small mark to the top right corner of pages 26-54, not affecting text.
