2007 The Children of Húrin
What Our Customers Say...
Description
This is a first edition of the work, in the original publisher's blue cloth binding, with the original, unclipped, dust wrapper.
This work is an epic fantasy novel, written by J. R. R. Tolkien, the English writer and philologist who is best known for his works The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Tolkien wrote the original version of this story in the late 1910s, intermittently revising it throughout his life, but ultimately leaving it unfinished before he died. His son, Christopher Tolkien edited the manuscripts and published it as an independent work.
The Children of Húrin is one of Tolkien's three "great tales" which are set in the First Age of Middle Earth. This land is filled with men, elves, dwarves and orcs, which all feature in this novel. The story follows the experience of Turin, who is sent to the elf-realm, Doriath, after his father is taken prisoner by Morgoth following the Battle of Unnumbered Tears.
With a folding map of the surrounding fictional lands to the rear of the work.
With illustrative depictions of Middle Earth included throughout.
