What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Decorative Binding, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first UK edition. Undated, dated from a copy held at The British Library.

With gilt titling and decoration, eight tipped-in colour plates, twenty-two full page colour illustrations, and more than twenty-five black and white illustrations throughout. Collated, complete.

Irish poet and translator T. W. Rolleston adapts the medieval Knight of the Swan tale, first appearing in the 13th-century German epic Parzival and later popularised by Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin, into an English verse poem. Featuring illustrations by the Hungarian Art Nouveau artist Willy Pogany.

Condition

In the publisher's original decorative brown binding. Externally, very smart except for slight rubbing to the joints. Bumping to head and tail of the spine, resulting in slightly loss to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fore edge roughly cut.
