    First UK illustrated edition in the publisher's original gilt-decorated cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper and slipcase.

    Contains twelve full page monochrome illustrations by Zhenya Gay, with descriptive tissue guards. Collated, complete.

    Written by French poet and novelist Anatole France and translated by Lafcadio Hearn, this is the first edition of The Crime of Sylvestre Bonnard to be illustrated with the artwork of Zhenya Gay. 

    The fascinating story of Bonnard, told through diary entries, was adapted into the 1929 French silent film of the same name.

    In the publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper and slipcase. Externally, very smart with only minor shelf wear to the extremities. With original unclipped dust wrapper in fine condition. Original slipcase in good condition with visible shelf wear and separation of the top board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fore edge roughly cut.
