Written by Captain George P. Boughton, who began his maritime journey in 1881 when he was just twelve years old.

This exciting work features semi-autobiographical stories of life as a sailor on the high seas. Boughton presents the highs and lows of ocean-travel, including the difficult conditions and hard work alongside the joyous camaraderie between sailors.

Illustrated with seven brightly coloured plates and a coloured frontispiece, all painted by Kenneth Shoesmith. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with a little shelf wear and slight fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with a touch of age toning and the odd mark to the first and last pages.
