In half blue calf with twenty-four coloured plates engraved on steel by John Leech and Hablot K. Browne. Collated, complete.
Renowned for his sporting novels Jorrock's Jaunts and Jollities (1838) and Handley Cross (1843), R. S. Surtees' Mr. Facey Romford's Hounds is a humorous satire on the life of an English sporting man.
With an unidentified contemporary ink inscription to the top of the title page.
Condition
In half blue calf with cloth boards and a red leather spine label. Gilt decorated spine. Externally, smart with rubbing to joints and extremities. The odd handling mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Rear hinge slightly strained. Pages age toned with the odd spot, heaviest to first and last few. Unidentified contemporary ink inscription to the top of the title page. Marbled paste downs and matching fore edge.
