A collection of poetry from English poet and critic, Matthew Arnold, who was appointed as the Professor of Poetry at Oxford in 1857, being the first lecturer to deliver his lessons in English rather than Latin.
This collection is comprised of :
Volume I - 'Early Poems, Narrative Poems and Sonnets'.
Volume II - 'Lyric and Elegiac Poems'.
Volume III - 'Dramatic and Later Poems'.
With a prize bookplate awarding the set to E. S. Workman, dated 1897.
Condition
Bound by Bickers in full morocco with gilt motif. Externally, lovely, with light rubbing to joints and extremities and a little darkening to the spine. The odd mark. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
