A collection of the sonnets of Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the High Renaissance. He wrote more than three hundred sonnets and madrigals, with around sixty addressed to men, "the first significant modern corpus of love poetry from one man to another".
Elizabeth Jennings (1926–2001), a respected British poet associated with The Movement.
With an introduction by Michael Ayrton, a British painter, printmaker, sculptor, critic, broadcaster and novelist.
Condition
In the original quarter paper vellum with cloth covered boards. Externally, excellent. Very slight fading to extremities with slight bumping. One or two of the slightest handling marks. Very small ink annotation to rear paste down, with one spot. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
