First appearing in 1602, 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' is a comedic play with themes of marriage, wealth, jealousy and lies.
Illustrated by Hugh Thomson, best known for his striking pen-and-ink illustrations for works by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and J. M. Barrie.
With thirty-nine colour tipped-in plates and a frontispiece.

Condition
Bound in the publisher's blue cloth. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities and joints, causing some light fraying to the spine head. A little fading and discolouration to backstrip and board extremities. A few marks to cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with light scattered spotting and a few marks. Plates remain bright and clean.
