Freya Stark's travelogue on her exploration by sea along the coast of Asia Minor, in a five-ton vessel named 'Elfin', a vivid study of the ancient land.
Illustrated with fifty plates of photographs, one folding map and numerous vignette sketches by the author. Collated, complete.
Stark was an explorer and travel writer who travelled extensively through the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Condition
Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities and a little fading to the backstrip head and tail. Light spots to the fore edge. Ink inscription to front free endpaper. Light edge wear to the wrap, with a few closed tears to the extremities, including a larger tear to the head of the rear joint. Sunning to wrap backstrip with the odd mark, including a small ink mark to the backstrip. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
