'The Loved One' is a short satirical novel set around the funeral business and the film industry in Los Angeles, drawing on the British expatriate community in the area. It was inspired by Waugh's trip to Hollywood in 1947.

With charming illustrations by Stuart Boyle.

Condition

In the publisher's cloth with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark. Light scattered spots to the fore edge. Dust wrapper is sound, with light edge wear, one chip to the rear panel, and significant closed tears to the tail of each flyleaf. Spotting to the wrap, with a little sunning to the spine. Internally, firmy bound with bright, clean pages.
