Lalla Rookh, An Oriental Romance, is a romantic narrative poem published in 1817. This is the fifth edition, without plates. With the printed dedication to Samuel Rogers following the title page.
Thomas Moore (1779 - 1852) was an Irish poet, singer, and songwriter, now best remembered for the lyrics of The Minstrel Boy and The Last Rose of Summer, as well as for burning Lord Byron's memoirs after his death along with John Murray.
Condition
In full straight-grained green morocco with decorative blind stamping to the front and back boards and spine. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to extremities and joints. Fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to pages throughout, heaviest to first and last few and title page. Marginal age toning throughout. Marbled paste downs. Gilt fore edge.
