The author's edition of Sir Walter Scott's narrative poem 'The Lady of the Lake'.
Comprised of six cantos, this influential poem surrounds the contest of three men in winning the heart of Ellen Douglas. While this is taking place, a war ensues between the Lowland Scots and the Highland Clans, as well as the continuation of a feud between King James V of Scotland and James Douglas.
Originally published in 1810.
With an illustrated title page featuring a mounted albumen print, a mounted albumen print frontispiece, and nine further mounted plates. Illustrated throughout after Birket Foster and John Gilbert.
Collated, complete.
With a thirty-page catalogue of Walter Scott's works to the rear.

Condition
Bound in the publisher's original blue cloth. Externally, sound, with light rubbing to the extremities, heavier to the head of the spine, and a little bumping. Hinges are strained. Bookbinder label to rear paste down and bookplate to front. Ink inscription to the verso of the front endpaper. Internally, front free endpaper, half title and frontispiece are detached. Otherwise, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with the occasional light spotting or mark.
