A superior first edition copy of this illustrated book on the fundamentals of Japanese architecture. Beautifully bound in Fusuma-paper, specifically Torinoko with a painted pattern by Urushi (Japanese lacquer). The paper used for the text is Shigarami-gami, made exclusively for paper mulberry, which is bleached by the snow in winter and handcrafted, a very limited output nowadays. Profusely illustrated throughout.

A beautiful first edition of Arnold's epic poem, inscribed by the author and profusely illustrated. Edwin Arnold (1832-1904) was an English journalist and poet. His best known work is 'The Light of Asia', and his other works include 'The Song Celestial' and 'The Japanese Wife'. His works were often inspired by Buddhism. 1900 The Lane That Had No Turning by Gilbert Parker

A smart collection of short stories set in Pontiac, Canada, in an excellently preserved and scarce early dust wrapper. This collection of short stories inspired a 1922 silent film, and includes a number of stories regarding the citizens and occurences of Pontiac, in Quebec, Canada. This work is considered some of Parker's best, and is seen as being in the tradition of the likes of Stoker's 'Dracula' and James's 'The Turn of the Screw'.
