This work is the sixteenth in the author's series surrounding gentleman detective, Albert Campion. In this particular novel, Campion is presented with a murder on a rainy night, with unknown witnesses and many potential culprits. Compared to the preceding novels, Allingham introduces many new characters to bring further intrigue to the work.
Written by English novelist, Margery Louise Allingham, who was considered to be one of the Queens of Crime from the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. She is known for her many murder mystery novels, being best remembered for her stories of the sleuth Albert Campion, of whom she wrote eighteen novels and many other short stories.

Bound in the publisher's cloth with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light shelf wear and a little fading to the head and tail of the spine. Light offsetting to endpapers. Dust wrapper is generally smart with chipping to the extremities and slight loss to the head and tail of the spine. Sunning to the wrap, heavier to the spine. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
