Edited by Henrietta Maria Bowdler, this is a charming study of the life of Elizabeth Smith, an English Oriental and Biblical scholar and writer, known for translating works from a number of languages, including Hebrew and Arabic.
Bowdler includes a biography of Smith, alongside numerous examples of her poetry, prose and correspondences.
Condition
Bound in quarter calf. Externally, very good, with rubbing to boards extremities and green and black pen marks to boards. Endpapers renewed and blanks and half title retained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with light scattered spotting.
