Written by Lieutenant-General Sir William Napier, who was an historian and soldier in the British army.
This work was taken from Napier's previous study of the Peninsular war as a whole, first appearing in 1828, with this book focusing on the English battles and sieges. Napier presents a number of combats undertaken by the British army, including Talavera, Vittoria, Burgos and many more.
Illustrated with a frontispiece of the author. Collated, complete.
With the prize bookplate of Jacobo Watt, dated 1881.

Condition
In full tree calf prize binding. Externally, very good, with slight rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges are slightly strained, but holding firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, apart from the first and last two pages, which are lightly spotted.
