    Description

    First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

    The first edition of this work. A very scarce work. An interesting treatise on electric lighting, written at a time when it was still a phenomena. With many in-text engravings. Originally written by Hippolyte Fontaine, a French electrical engineer. He helped in the development of the first industrially viable electrical generator. Translated from French by Paget Higgs, who also wrote 'The Electric Light in its Practical Application', and 'Electric Transmission of Power'. Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, though with some loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light marking to the boards. A little bumping to the extremities. Institutional stamps to the pastedowns, endpapers, and to the reverse of the title page. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot, mostly to the first and last few pages.
