This copy includes a colour frontispiece of The Wolf and the Crane by Ethel L. Tanner, along with numerous black-and-white illustrations, and one colour illustration, throughout.
Aesop was a storyteller who is thought to have lived in ancient Greece around the 6th century BCE. He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty, wisdom and kindness. These fables have become enduring classics, continuing to be shared with generation after generation.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial hardback. Externally, a little worn. Spine almost fully disbound, attached at front joint only. Rubbing and bumping to extremities and boards. The odd spot to endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages age toned, but bright. The odd handling mark to fore edge, but otherwise clean.
