What Our Customers Say...

Description

In the publisher's original blue cloth binding.

With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.

This copy is undated. Dated here using Jisc, from copies held at various institutions including The British Library, University of Cambridge Libraries, University of Oxford Libraries among others.

This work is not a cocktail manual but a literary anthology devoted to drink, containing "A Selection from the Best Things Written Through the Ages on Drinks, Drinking and Drinkers by Poets, Novelists, Essayists, Dramatists, Drunkards, Social Reformers, and Teetotallers". From Falstaff’s jingling demands for sack, Pickwickian punch-bowls and Chesterton’s hymns to beer, to less-quoted sources such as medical pamphlets, Victorian newspaper squibs and World-War-II mess-songs.
