This volume is a concise, richly illustrated survey of Urs Graf’s graphic work, combining scholarly analysis with a substantial visual record. The text essays by Major and Gradmann offer insight into the history of the following 150 illustrated facsimiles of Graf's work, over 56 double-sided black-and-white plates. Collated, complete.
Urs Graf (c.1485–c.1527) was a Swiss Renaissance artist and mercenary known for his bold, unflinching drawings and engravings that depicted soldiers, peasants, and raw scenes of everyday life.
Condition
In the publisher's original orange cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Some very slight soiling and handling marks to perimeters of boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. The odd slight handling mark to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Frontispiece image partially unstuck.
