First edition. An uncommon volume with all four seasonal issues bound together.
Rebacked with the original spine and original cloth laid down to the boards.
'Wings: Flying Thrills' is an aviation periodical which seemingly only ran for four issues: Summer 1934, Autumn 1934, Winter 1934 and Spring 1935. Notable contributors include Captain W. E. Johns and Arch Whitehouse, both of whom were WWI veterans and authors of aviation books ('Biggles', 'The Griffon', 'Coffin Kirk').
The periodical comprises both fiction and non-fiction stories pertaining to the world of flying and air combat, including 'All's Fair' (Johns), 'Dog-Fight Danny' (Whitehouse), 'Careering into Aviation' (anonymous), 'Big Bertha and the Planes' ("Vigilant") and others.
Illustrated with vignettes throughout.
Condition
Rebacked with the original spine and original cloth laid down to the boards. Externally, with fading and discolouration to the cloth, most notably to the spine. Marks to the cloth. Chipped and spotted presentation bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned, with occasional scattered spots throughout.
