Following the story of the French Doctor Manette, his imprisonment in the Bastille in Paris, and his release to live in London with his daughter Lucie whom he had never met. Written by Charles John Huffam Dickens, an English novelist, journalist, short story writer and social critic who created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Illustrated by Hablot Knight Browne, a British artist and illustrator best known by his pen name, Phiz. Dated from the ink inscription to the front endpaper.
Condition
Bound in full morocco. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the endpapers. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
