Issued by Odhams in the early 1930s, this set captures the golden age of popular Dickens reprints, when the author’s works were finding renewed life in affordable library editions.
Each work is introduced by a frontispiece and accompanied by numerous plates by George Cruikshank, Phiz [Hablot K. Browne], Marcus Stone, John Leech, and J. Mahony, whose illustrations helped define the visual world of Dickens’s fiction.

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart. Slight offsetting to endpapers with the odd spot. Front hinges of “Dombey and Son,” “Pickwick,” “Barnaby Rudge,” and “Chuzzlewit,” cracked, with binding materials partially exposed, but holding firm. Spines of “Dombey,” “Curiosity Shop,” slightly loose from binding, but holding at the boards. Slight cockling to spine of “Great Expectations”. Hinges of “Our Mutual Friend,” “Child’s History,” “Curiosity Shop,” cracked, with binding materials exposed, but holding, less so to “Our Mutual Friend,” loose but holding. Slight cockling to rear paste down of “Sketches” at the gutter. Fading to perimeters of boards of “Copperfield,” and “Sketches." Internally, firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in pales, but holding firm. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot to first and last few leaves. Slight cockling to pages of “Bleak House,” and “Barnaby Rudge.” Small closed tear to front free endpaper of “Barnaby Rudge."
