Colour Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce, With Dustwrapper
Based upon the 1911 play of the same name, the work was first published in prose form in 1912. The first performance took place at the Savoy Theatre, London, 21 December 1911, and the cast of forty-five children included a twelve-year-old Noel Coward.
This prose edition is dated 1924 via the Victoria and Albert Museum, and is beautifully illustrated with nine tipped in colour plated by Leo Bates, alongside further monochrome illustrations.
Collated, complete.
In the exceptionally scarce original unclipped dust wrapper with pictorial onlay to front wrap.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light shelf wear to spine tail. Front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Dust wrapper age toned to back strip, with small losses of paper to back strip head and tail, and chipping to back strip tail. Light edgewear and small closed tears to head of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd light handling mark.
