This is an exceptionally scarce new edition of this work, published by Heath & Heather Ltd., the St Albans based “herb specialists” best known today for their herbal teas. 

This copy is undated. Dated here using Jisc, from a copy held at The National Trust Libraries. 

This copy is a handbook that also serves as a trade catalogue, with short entries on individual herbs and common ailments, plus pages listing the firm’s pills, ointments and other proprietary items.

Illustrated with eight double sided monochrome plates and one fold out monochrome photograph illustration of the members of staff of Heath & Heather. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in the odd small closed tear to extremities. Loss to head of spine with slight loss to tail of spine, reinforced with clear tape. The odd crease to wraps. One or two handling marks. Tape repair to inside of rear wrap lower extremities. Slight rust marks from stapled binding. Final plate has been affixed to the gutter of the verso of the rear wrap, slight loss where the plate has previously been disbound. Bookplate from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique" affixed to gutter of first page. Internally, generally firmly bound. Small clear tape reinforcements to upper stapled binding of first leaf. Pages generally bright and clean, if slightly age toned. The odd spot to fore edges. The odd crease to extremities.
