This very scarce volume is a vast comprehensive reference work designed for the domestic reader of the early 20th century, offering a fascinating window into period household life and interests.

More eclectic topics include “Cinematography in the Home,” “Casting in Iron, Lead and Brass,” “Cats: Varieties and Characteristics,” “China and China Collecting,” and “Dolls and Their Homes,” among many others.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Circular puncture to the front board, resulting in a raised bump to front pastedown with tearing and creasing, also affecting the front free endpaper. The odd scratch and handling mark to boards. Slight damp staining to lower right of front board. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. The odd spot with slight offsetting to endpapers. Previous owner's small ink signature to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with one or two handling marks and spots, with slight age toning. Small ink inscription to page 31, "23/6/38". Pages up to page 11 affected by puncture to the front board, including a small closed tear until page 3 and light creasing. The text remains fully legible.
