Edward Lear was an English artist, illustrator, author and poet, known for popularising the genre of literary nonsense. Lear wrote and illustrated a wide range of poems, songs and short stories, many of which conform to his nonsense style that gained him notoriety. This work encapsulates his humour and nonsensical style through a series of charming limericks and their accompanying illustrations.
Undated, this copy has been dated c1920 from the University of Cambridge Libraries. This copy was produced shortly after Warne became a limited company, in 1919.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally excellent with minimal wear to the extremities. Spotting and offsetting to the endpapers with ink inscription to the front. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages with only minimal loss to the tail of the last page.
