    This copy is notable for featuring over 200 fables, and is distinguished by its eight vibrant colour illustrations, including a colour frontispiece. Collated, complete.

    The book includes well-known fables such as "The Frog and the Ox", "The Peacock and the Crane", and "The Lion in Love", among others.

    Aesop was a storyteller who is thought to have lived in ancient Greece around the 6th century BCE. He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty, wisdom and kindness. These fables have become enduring classics, continuing to be shared with generation after generation.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Fading to spine. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. One or two slight handling marks to boards. Previous owner's small ink inscription to front paste down. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Small ink mark to rear pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, if slightly age toned. One or two spots to fore edge. Slight cockling to colour illustrations facing page 97.
