First edition. Very scarce. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and numerous in-text images. Collated complete. A charming historical children's story of the days of our Saxon forefathers, following the adventures and experiences of Cerdic the Saxon. With reference to the Danes and their arrival on British shores. Written by Herbert Strang, the pseudonym of two English authors, George Herbert Ely and Charles James L'Estrange, who specialized in writing adventure stories for boys, both historical and modern-day, and Lucy L. Weedon, a British author of children's stories.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor creases to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. School bookplate to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
