    The Wonder Book series offered richly illustrated, educational volumes for children on science, nature, travel, and technology, combining colour plates, photographs, and accessible text across multiple popular titles.

    This is a five-volume set, comprising:

    The Wonder Book of Nature for Boys and Girls (c.1910), third edition. Illustrated with eleven colour plates including a frontispiece and a fold-out plate, and nearly 350 further illustrations. Collated, complete. Complete with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

    The Wonder Book of Then & Now (c.1918). Illustrated with twelve colour plates including a fold-out frontispiece, and over 300 further illustrations. Collated, complete. Complete with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

    The Wonder Book of Ships for Boys and Girls (c.1924). Illustrated with twelve colour plates including a frontispiece, and 320 further illustrations. Collated, complete.

    The Wonder Book of Pets and How to Keep Them (c.1929). Illustrated with twelve colour plates including a frontispiece, and 300 further illustrations. Collated, complete.

    The Wonder Book of Empire for Boys and Girls (c.1930), tenth edition. Illustrated with eight colour plates including a frontispiece and a fold-out map, with nearly 300 further illustrations. Collated, complete. Complete with the original unclipped dust wrapper.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper boards. Externally, very smart. Slight fading to spines. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Previous owner’s contemporary ink inscription to half title of “Nature.” Dust wrappers, generally smart. The odd chip, closed tear, and crease to extremities. Wraps slightly age toned. Dust wrapper of “Nature” worn, with loss to extremities and rear panel, with tearing to extremities and the odd chip.
