Two volumes. The Kingston Library. Written by William Henry Giles Kingston, often credited as W. H. G. Kingston, an English writer of boys' adventure novels. He wrote upwards of one hundred and thirty tales over a period of thirty years and remained popular for many years after his death. This set contains: Twice Lost. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated complete, the plate to face page 347 is bound at 336. This novel follows young Godfrey Rayner as he embarks on a nautical adventure, starting his journey as a midshipman on the corvette "Heroine". He encounters pirates, treacherous waters, and a variety of characters, including a lost boy named Harry, who becomes integral to the unfolding narrative. In the Eastern Seas. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and four colour plates. Collated complete, though bound at different pages to contents. This story revolves around the adventures of siblings Walter and Emily Heathfield, who endure a dramatic beginning when they are rescued from a sinking ship along with their dying father. The children find themselves in the care of Captain Davenport who invites them to join the captain on his next voyage to the eastern seas. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the cloth. Front hinge starting but firm to Twice Lost at the title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Minor age toning to the endpapers with school prize bookplate to the front pastedown.
