What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Rebound
A volume of three extracts on bloodhounds, from 'The New Book of the Dog', and 'The Kennel Encyclopedia'.
A charming volume exploring the dog breed, discussing the history of the breed, as well as the habits, raiding, and merits of bloodhounds. Bloodhounds have been used since the Middle Ages for tracking people, due to their brilliant ability to discern human scent over vast distances, even days later.
The extract from 'The New Book of the Dog' is by Howard Handley Spicer, a prominent papermaker, wholesale stationer, and a magazine editor.
The extract from 'The Kennel Encyclopedia' is by Edwin Brough. Brough was a leading breeder and trainer of bloodhounds, and was invited by the Metropolitan Police to use his dogs to track Jack the Ripper.
Illustrated throughout, including with four plates to 'The Kennel Encyclopaedia'.
