Illustrated with twenty-four pages of colour images. An English edition of Der Struwwelpeter or 'Shock-Headed Peter', an 1845 German children's book that comprises ten illustrated and rhymed stories, mostly about children. Each tale has a clear moral lesson that demonstrates the disastrous consequences of misbehavior in an exaggerated way. Written and illustrated by Heinrich Hoffmann, a German psychiatrist, who also wrote some short fiction, and is best known for this work. Dated from the British Library and University of Oxford Libraries.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards with light fading to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright. With light spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers.
