First edition. Very scarce. Illustrated with a frontispiece and twelve plates. Collated complete. A description of the author's trip, mostly by river, from Georgetown in British Guiana to the diamond fields and back. With graphic descriptions of the flora and fauna of South America. Written by Walter G. White, an English clergyman and author. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading and a small puncture mark to the spine resulting in a closed tear to the cloth. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound with frontispiece loosening slightly. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Pencil inscriptions to the front endpaper and the odd page. Age toning to the endpapers with a small tear to the front endpaper. School library bookplate to the front pastedown.
