Colour Plates, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
Very scarce edition, bound in untearable linen. Illustrated with fourteen images, twelve of which are in full colour. A collection of the fables attributed to Aesop, a Greek fabulist and storyteller noted for his tales characterized by anthropomorphic animal characters. Many of the tales credited to him were gathered across the centuries and in many languages in a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. This collection contains: The Lion and the Mouse, The Wolf and the Lamb, The Hare and the Tortoise, The Quack Frog, and The Dog and the Shadow, amongst others.
Condition
In the original quarter linen binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities and minor discolouration. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the extremities.
