Fine Binding, Leather Binding

Two volumes of work by eminent dramatist Pierre Corneille. In the original French. With a preface to the first volume by Voltaire. Corneille is typically regarded as one of the three great seventeenth century French dramatists alongside Moliere and Racine. These two volumes comprise of plays and poetry by Corneille. Some of the works included are Heraclius, Nicomede, Othon, Sertorius, Poesies Diverses Medee, Le Cid and Pompee.

Condition

In quarter calf bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with some minor rubbing to the head and tail of spines and to the head and tail of joints. Gift inscription to recto of front endpaper to both volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are aged due to paper used, particularly to edges, with the odd spot throughout.
