c1900 Mirifiques Aventures de Maitre Antifer
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated
Illustrated throughout, with fourteen plates, two are maps.
Undated, dated using Philippe Jauzac's bibliography of Verne. As this copy has been rebound and the adverts discarded, dating this copy is difficult. However, this is definitely an early printing from the other points noted by Jauzac.
Captain Antifer tells the story of a treasure hunt, with the protagonist being led on a complicated route from Tunisia to the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Guinea and then to Edinburgh, Spitsbergen and finally the Mediterranean off Sicily.

In a quarter morocco binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spots to pages.
