'L'oie du Capitole' is an amusing children's book, written in French and based upon the mythological 'Oies du Capitole'. The Capitol Geese refers to an event from the sixth century, in which geese raised the alarm to the Roman people when the Gauls tried to take them by surprise at night.
Other interesting animals are introduced, such as elephants, camels, and lions.
Written by Leo Claretie (1862-1924), a french journalist. Claretie tragically died when he was hit by a train in the 1920s.
With drawings by Auguste Vimar (1851-1916), a visual artist who contributed to a range of children's books.
