Description
Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
Very scarce work. Illustrated with four full-colour pages and numerous in-text images. A charming children's story following Jumpy the frog and Cuddles the duck as they creep away from Duckfrog village in search of a great adventure. Produced by Dean & Son, a London publishing firm, best known for making and mass-producing moveable children's books and toy books, established around 1800. Thomas Dean founded the firm and soon brought in innovative lithographic printing processes. By the mid 1800s, the firm was the preeminent publisher of novelty children's books in London.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with rubbing and light wear to the extremities. Sunning and light discolouration to the extremities with the odd small mark. A small tear to the head of the spine with a 1.5" closed tear to the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light age toning.
