A lovely collection of pressed flowers sourced from the Holy Land, titled Flowers of the Holy Land; Fleurs de la Terre Sainte.
Collections of pressed flowers such as these were often purchased as souvenirs by visitors on pilgrimage to the Holy Land during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
This collection consists of flowers from Mount Zion, Mount Moriah, Siloah, Bethlehem, and more, and have been carefully pressed onto the pages with intact tissue guards. Each page contains a caption in English, French, and German.
Including twelve plates of pressed flowers, collated and complete.
Handsomely bound in olive wood boards with original morocco spine.
Condition
Handsomely bound in olive wood boards with original morocco spine. Externally, some light shelf wear to the boards, and very light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Front board is loose, and may detach with further handling. Internally, front hinge is strained. Remaining binding is firm. A few spots to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean.
