Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
In the original Japanese.
A very scarce volume, titled 一筆画譜 全 or 'Complete Single-Stroke Drawings', to the rear wrap.
This beautifully illustrated work presents forty pages of illustrations monochrome, many featuring sketched captions in Japanese characters.
Among these illustrations are depictions of the superhuman-child folk hero Kintaro riding upon a giant fish, a soba kiosk, birds, samurai, abstract patterns, and buildings.
They style appears to be reminiscent of Hiroshige's wood-block prints.
A very scarce volume of Japanese ink illustration, in the single stroke style of the Edo period.
Condition
In the original paper wraps, with title label to rear wrap. Light edgewear to wrap perimeters, otherwise externally smart. Small folds to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned due to paper type, with only the odd spot or light handling mark. One small illustration to the head of the sixth page has been removed.
