A fascinating guide from the late nineteenth-century, comprised of a compendium of foods and beverages intended as a reference for physicians when prescribing a diet for their patients.

Also included is "A Table Guide for Invalids", "A Vade Mecum for the Managers of Hotels and Boarding Houses in the Arrangement of the Menu" and " A Friend in Need for Travellers Unfamiliar with Continental Cuisines".

Written partly in English and partly in German, with a preface and a title page in both languages, followed by a list of articles of food in English and German.

With a stamp of Dr. Paul Mayer, Karlsbad, to the front free endpaper.

Condition

Bound in cloth. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to boards and extremities. Endpapers renewed. Stamp to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
