Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Comprising a mixture of first editions (stated as such) and new undated impressions. These undated copies have been dated either from Jisc or the the years aligning with the changes in the publisher's address (hence the use of circa). 

Henty is best known for his historical and adventure novels, notably The Dragon and The Raven, For the Temple and In Freedom's Cause. Noted for his thorough research (and sometimes first-hand experience) in the events he set his stories within, Henty was the most popular Boy's author of his day, inspiring other other writers to attempt writing juvenile adventure stories in his style, including Herbert Strang, Percy F. Westerman and Henry Everett McNeil.

Condition

In the original decorative cloth bindings. Externally, very smart, with generally only rubbing and bumping to the extremities and the occasional marks to the boards. With a contemporary prize bookplate to the front pastedown of 'For the Temple. Pages are generally bright and clean, with most notable instances of scattered spotting to 'Chapter of Adventure' and 'Herat and Cabul'. With a contemporary prize bookplate to the front free endpaper of 'Pampas'.
