An Italian opera in a prologue and two acts, that tells the tale of Canio, actor and leader of a commedia dell'arte theatrical company, who murders his wife Nedda and her lover Silvio on stage during a performance. Written and composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo an Italian opera composer and librettist who produced numerous operas and songs. It was this opera, known as Pagliacci in Italian, that remained his lasting contribution and greatest success. Translated by Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Hartmann, a German composer and music critic. Dated from Royal Academy of Music Library.

Condition

Bound in half cloth with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with sunning to the board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot and light age toning to the extremities.
