Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

Fifth edition. A wonderful guide to late nineteenth century cookery and dining. With chapters on stocks, sauces, soups, fish dishes, entrees and meat, game and poultry roasting, vegetables, pastry, pies and puddings, sweet dishes, and more. Includes bills of fare for each month of the year and commentary on wines and their service. Written by Major James Henry Landon, a British Army officer. With publisher's advertisements to the front and rear of the text. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the extremities with marks to the boards. A very small split in the cloth to the front joint. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages, with the odd mark. A closed tear sympathetically repaired with tape to the front endpaper. Previous owner's bookplate to the front free endpaper.
