The first edition of this scace work.

Illustrated with seventeen plates. Collated, complete.

A beautiful work on Hakone, by the pioneering Japanese photographer Ogawa Kazumasa, known for his photomechanical printing. Ogawa was one of the leading photographers of his time. In this work, his photographs showcase the scenic beauty of Japan. Hakone is a notable spa town in Kanagawa, a popular destination with hot springs and striking views of Mount Fuji. 

With descriptive text by James Murdoch. 

Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the National Library of Scotland.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, front wrap is detached but present. Light edge wear to the wraps, heavier with chips to the front wrap. Wraps are age-toned with light handling marks and spots. Lacking most of the back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with light handling marks.
