What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Illustrated, Leather Binding

In the original German.

Initially published as individual plates between 1861 and 1880, this is a bound volume of ninety-eight double page, hand coloured plates of German costumes and fashions, with each plate bearing between eight and twelve individual figures.

Present here are ninety-eight of the one-hundred and twenty-five plates which were ultimately published.

Rebacked in half morocco, with the publisher's original pictorial paper covered boards.

These plates consist of historical dress from antiquity to the close of the 19th century, including male and female costumes, and examples of clerical and military dress, from artists such as Louis Braun and Wilhelm von Diez.

Condition

Rebacked in morocco, retaining the publisher's original pictorial paper covered boards, and with morocco corners. Light handling marks to boards. Endpapers renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, otherwise clean and bright. Minor loss to fore edge of first plate.
