Two popular works by Jules Verne bound in one volume, both early French editions. 

In the original French.  

Both of these works were published in Hetzel's 'Voyages Extraordinaires' series, collecting fifty-four of Verne's works in a series published between 1863 and 1905. 

Including;

'Autour de la Lune', illustrated by Emile Bayard and A. de Neuville, with in-text illustrations throughout.

'Le Docteur Ox, Maitre Zacharius, Un Hivernage dans les Glaces, et un Drama dans les Airs', illustrated by Bertrand, Froaelich, Thomas Schuler, and Bayard et Marie, with a frontispiece, and in-text illustrations throughout.

'Autour de la Lune', translated to English as either 'Round the Moon', 'Circling the Moon', or 'All Around the Moon', was first published in French in 1869. This novel is the sequel to Jules Verne's 'From the Earth to the Moon', an exciting science fiction novel which continues the trip to the Moon after a group have been fired out of the Columbiad space gun.

'Doctor Ox' is a collection of four short tales by, first published in this collection in 1874. The titular tale is the best known, a humorous sci-fi story which discusses the brilliant experiments by Dr. Ox, set in an imaginary village in Belgium. Dr. Ox later appears as the villain in Verne's 1882 play 'Journey Through the Impossible'. The tale is thought to have inspired H. G. Wells in writing 'The Food of the Gods'.

Condition

In a quarter calf binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spine. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine, and a little loss of paper to the extremities. Light bumping to the extremities. Spine is a little discoloured. Small crack to the head and tail of the front joint. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with some spots.
