An illustrated history of parks in London, from Dutch writer Herman Diederik Johan van Schevichaven, here writing under the pseudonym Jacob Larwood.

With frontispiece and three further plates, all in colour and the work of George Cruikshank, the famed British caricaturist and book illustrator. Collated, complete.

Originally published as a two volume work in 1872, this history of London's parks travels through William the Third to George III to the nineteenth century, while also discussing specific parks including Mulberry Gardens, Green Park and St James's Park.

Dated circa 1876 via Durham University and the University of London.

With a library blind stamp to the head of the front free endpaper.

With the armorial bookplate of H E Sherwin Holt to the front pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with significant handling marks and rubbing to boards. Rear hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Blind stamp to head of front free endpaper. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
